It's apple season! Beginning in the late fall, we see a much wider variety of apples in the stores, and it's almost impossible to resist them. Fortunately, it's not hard to find ways to use them. I saute them with sweet and sour cabbage and toss a few into coleslaw or this apple and celery salad. And, of course, they shine in desserts like caramel apple pie or almond spice cake with apple compote. In sweet or savory dishes, apples rule.
