This makes a delightful brunch drink for two. While the blood orange juice is delicious and turns the drink a beautiful color, regular orange juice is fine.
Yield: 2 servings
Ingredients:
- 4 ounces Lillet Blonde
- 2 ounces gin
- 2 ounces blood orange (or regular orange) juice
- 2 dashes orange bitters
- 6-8 basil leaves
- 3-4 ounces club soda (or champagne)
Preparation:
1. Place the Lillet, gin, orange, bitters, and basil in a cocktail shaker. Fill with ice and shake.
2. Fill two highball glasses with ice and strain the drinks into the glasses.
3. Top with club soda. For a "Royal Ballet", top with dry champagne instead.
4. Stir gently and serve.
