Recipe: Traditional Martini Janet A. Zimmerman
We like our martinis made the traditional way -- with (relatively) lots of vermouth and a dash or two of orange bitters. No olives for us, but if you like them, by all means drop one in.

Yield: 2 servings

Ingredients:

  • 3 ounces dry gin
  • 1 ounce dry vermouth
  • 2-4 dashes orange bitters
  • 2 strips of lemon peel

Preparation:

1. Place gin, vermouth and bitters in a mixing glass or cocktail shaker filled with ice. Stir for 20-30 seconds or until the outside of the glass or shaker is ice cold.

2. Strain into two small chilled cocktail glasses. Twist a piece of lemon peel over each drink and drop in.
