My Strawberry Trifle is indeed trifling to make, but it neither tastes nor looks like a trifle - in fact it tastes and looks like a Trifle. Quick and easy, it's an excellent last-minute dessert suitable for just the two of you or for company. Serve it with a brunch or at the end of your first night of outdoor grilling, or just have it for breakfast some lazy Sunday morning. (Larger image.) Serves 2.

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 lb. strawberries; hulled and sliced
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. sugar (depending on how sweet the berries are)
  • 2 Tbsp. Frangelica
  • 1/2 cup yogurt*
  • 2 tsp. honey
  • Poundcake

Preparation:

1. Mix strawberries, sugar, and Frangelica and allow to macerate for an hour at room temperature.

2. Whip together yogurt and honey

3. Place one or two pieces of poundcake in the bottom of a glass, drizzle with some of the strawberry juice. Add a spoonful of yogurt and a couple of spoonfuls of strawberries.

4. Repeat and add a last dollop of yogurt to the top layer of berrries.

*Note: If you can find it, Greek yogurt is thicker and richer than ordinary yogurt.
